How to Flash the Wyze Outdoor Plug - ESPHome or Tasmota - Local Control

Image
Features ESP32 for Bluetooth scanning! Higher Gain antenna than a normal ESP module PCB antenna LUX Sensor Power Monitoring (Both relays combined, single channel) Dual Relays Dual Status LEDs IP64 Weather proofing 15 Amp capacity Purchase the Wyze Outdoor Plug (Amazon) First...plot change!  ESPHome is what we are going to use here.  Tasmota could be used but the two buttons would not work since Tasmota does not support the use of enabling pull-down resistors on the ESP32 module. UPDATE: 9.5 Tasmota supports this (template near the end of this article)  Yes, you heard this right, it's an ESP32 just like how the Sonoff Dual R3 came.  Luckily the efuses are not burned and we can use the device how we want, cloudless!  Thanks Wyze!  Dear Wyze, this is a good thing, you'll sell more of these plugs as well as additional word of mouth exposure for the company.  Win win situation, don't screw it up! If you just came for the ESPHome Yaw Mill and don't care about reading or loo

Gosund WO1 Smart Outlet - Power Monitoring with Tasmota

Image
Purchase the Outlet on Amazon    (UPDATE: Rebranded link that works  https://amzn.to/3HsScAo  ) Especially in 2021 there really aren't many devices that you can flash over the air with Tuya Convert .  The Gosund Smart Outlet is one of them. Features: Dual Outlets Dual Buttons Dual Relays Dual Relay Status LEDs Single channel dual Link LEDs ESP8285 for Tasmota! Power monitoring (both outlets combined into a single channel) (take note iTead Sonoff !)   Even if you decided to flash it OTA, having that backup option for recovery is an awesome thing since the pads are pretty easy to get to with a Torx bit (no glue or breaking anything!)   One oddity with this outlet are the buttons.  Instead of using the available GPIO pins on the ESP chip they tied them to the analog input on the ESP and the buttons pull down the A0 pin with two different resistor values.  No, pushing both doesn't combine them, it just follows the least path of resistance of course.  Don't just snag the temp

Zigbee2MQTT with the Sonoff Zigbee Bridge

If you've been using your Zigbee bridge with the ZHA integration and don't like some of the oddities of buttons using ZHA Events, etc or simply just want to detach from HA, or even enable support more devices; it's time to jump on over to Zigbee2MQTT.  Previously there wasn't the ability to use Zigbee2MQTT if you were using the Sonoff Zigbee Bridge.  It is currently in the development branch of Zigbee2MQTT if you want to give it spin.  Trust me, it's well worth it!!   Still using your Sonoff Zigbee Bridge with the cloud?  Take it out of the cloud with this guide!  https://www.digiblur.com/2020/07/how-to-use-sonoff-zigbee-bridge-with.html iTead also is now selling their USB 3.0 dongle that uses the same chip as the Zigbee Bridge.  It is preflashed with correct firmware out of the box that can also be used with ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT using the same procedure as below with the USB port. If you are using the ZHA integration at this time I would suggest removing all your
